Fiery Crash Kills Woman San Bernardino

A woman was reporting a truck that almost drove her off the road to San Bernardino’s authorities when she was killed during a crash that left her car in flames.

San Bernardino police officers was directed to the intersection of North E and West 8th Street at around 11:30 p.m., according to San Bernardino authorities. Rachel Welch, the 38-year-old victim from Westminster, was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities said Welch was talking on the phone with a San Bernardino police dispatcher before the incident occurred.

“It appears that Ms. Welch was attempting to catch up to the truck prior to losing control of her vehicle,” according to dispatch.

A witness claims the woman was speeding when she lost control of the 1999 Chevrolet Lumina, veered onto northbound lanes then drove into a sidewalk that made her vehicle flip over and crash into a wall. The car burst into flames shortly after.
